Shadows

If it won't leave me alone it's no surprise that I'm shrill
but to no avail, my shadow follows me still.
When sunlight reveals my frown, that only fills it with glee.
Yet on a moonlit night it never fails to locate me.
Until my shadow appears the only thing that is true
appearing in a flash on any wall within view.
But increasingly I realise that it is pleasing after all
to have such a constant companion, then I recall
that the only times my shadow has left me alone
have been the darkest times that I have known.
And so it fills me with delight to have my shadow about
for it completes my world, without a doubt.

FINALLY, the proof?

I DO live in the center of the universe. Unless, of course, you woke up to find this outside YOUR house, too.
Hmmmm?

Always Marketing, I Am

As much as I'm all about promoting my own products, I can still be impartial.

These are AMAZING. I think their fruits (this is only a small sample of their line) taste better than the real thing, most times. The pineapple is amazing. Their mixed and tropical bags are awesome.

This is also a family company, which I love. The dad is the chef, and at trade shows, the kids work with their parents, sampling this yummy fruit.

Find them at Whole Foods.

Plants of Westwood

I took the office dogs for a walk yesterday and found these plants.
I have no idea what this top one is!
The colors of this flower were just amazing to me

We Spent The Weekend in Big Bear, CA

This weekend, we went to Big Bear for my first time. It seemed very quiet, peaceful, chilly, and serene.
What a beautiful place!

Spring Leaves

The leaves had a wonderful frolic. They danced to the wind's loud song. They whirled, and they floated, and scampered. They circled and flew along.

The moon saw the little leaves dancing. Each looked like a small brown bird. The man in the moon smiled and listened,And this is the song he heard.

The North Wind is calling, is calling, And we must whirl round and round, And then, when our dancing is ended, We'll make a warm quilt for the ground.

I Hate This Wall

This wall reminds me of Laurie Dann, and how she lined students up in a classroom to shoot them, one by one.
Laurie Dann was one of the scariest things that occurred during my childhood. It took me years to get over the fright of what this woman did at a school near mine.

Here's the story from 1988:

30-year-old Dann arrived at the home of former babysitting clients in Winnetka, Illinois to pick up the youngest two children. Instead of taking them on the promised outing, she took them to Ravinia Elementary School in Highland Park, Illinois, and left them in the car while she entered the school and tried to detonate a fire bomb in one of the school's hallways. The small fire she set was quickly extinguished by a teacher. Returning her two passengers to their home, she offered them some arsenic-poisoned milk, but the boys spat it out as it tasted strange. Once at their home, she used gasoline to set fire to the house, briefly trapping the mother and her two children in the basement. She then drove three and a half blocks to the Hubbard Woods School carrying three handguns. She wandered into and observed a second grade classroom for a short while, then left and finding a boy in the corridor, pushed him into the boys' washroom and shot him with a .22 semi-automatic Beretta pistol. Her .357 Smith and Wesson Magnum revolver jammed as she tried to fire it at two other boys in the washroom, and she threw it into the washbasin along with the spare ammunition she had brought. The boys ran out of the washroom and raised the alarm. Dann then re-entered the same second grade classroom where the students were working in groups on a bicycle safety test. She ordered all the children into the corner of the room, but the teacher refused, and attempted to disarm Dann, managing to unload the Beretta in the struggle. Dann drew a .32 Smith and Wesson from the waistband of her shorts and shot at several groups of the students. She killed eight-year-old Nicholas Corwin, and wounded two girls and two boys before fleeing in her car.

More Signs I Don't Understand

I'm a bit nervous about this one. I'm thinking it means "No Dog Farting Here" but I can't always tell if Desi is or not; it doesn't always make a sound.
Is this block "Scent Enforced," like some are "Radar Enforced?"
Can we get a ticket for this?
Who actually patrols this?

Luckily it only seems to be this one block of our walk.

Esta Cansado

Having nothing to blog about or put up in pix today, Desi and I have walked about 5 miles, looking for a great shot. Perhaps it's that we've done these stairs and another set twice already, but some lady, watching Desi lumber up the stairs just now, said, "Esta Cansado!" meaning, That poor dog has teeny legs and is exhausted!

My Favorite Shows Are True Crime Stories...

...and it's amazing how often someone will be murdered, most often a wife, and she'll have told her friends prior to her death, "If I'm EVER murdered, here's who did it."

This is what I imagine Desi's list would look like, were he to tell me that.

I'm At A Loss....

This sign is right outside my house. I have seen it everyday for almost a year, yet I still have absolutely no clue what it wants me to do (or not do).
I worry that one day I'll get pulled over for not....what? Graffiti-ing correctly? Circling in blue?
